For when you're drier than the Sahara, fill your cart with these products.

I, like many others, have suffered from acne. It’s painful, and irritating, and you just don’t feel like yourself. I didn’t really even have pimples when I was a teenager, but my second puberty came along and my face decided that I needed some acne to go with… well everything, because I couldn’t get rid of it. Once I finally saw a dermatologist, I was put on a daily dose of 40g of Isotretinoin (AKA Roaccutane), and I had heard about the long list of side effects, but the dryness definitely takes the cake.

So, if you too are a victim of extreme dryness due to Isotretinoin then these are the products you need to feel less like sandpaper.

Any Dermal Therapy Product:

Whoever the inventor of Dermal Therapy is, I hope their pillow is always cool and all their dreams come true because their products are *chefs kiss*. Roaccutane users know how it feels to have their lips be the driest they have ever been, and no other lip balms have compared to Dermal Therapy’s Ultra Moisturising Lip Balm. I recommend the original tub because, unlike the squeeze tube, you can get right in there and use it down to the last drop.

Ever since being on Roaccutane, I have developed dermatitis on my arms/shoulders which has been unexpected and annoying. Even though other body moisturisers are good on unaffected areas, the Dermal Therapy Very Dry Skin Cream (they really get straight to the point with their names), makes you skin so smooth it’s like touching silk.

Vaseline Healing Jelly:

Vaseline is such a household name and for good reason, it is literally God’s nectar. Before Roaccutane, I had never really used Vaseline besides their moisturisers, but their Healing Jelly should be a staple in item in everyone’s skincare routine. Put it on your face at night and let it soak into your skin, that is my hot tip. It rehydrates and protects your skin, so you will notice a big difference in a few days.

Rosehip Oil:

After the acne is gone, while using Roaccutane you will notice your acne scars. Luckily Rosehip oil will help reduce those scars. As well as scar reduction, Rosehip oil will help hydrate your face. Any brand can usually do the job, but I use Essano’s Hydrating Rosehip Oil because it's inexpensive, light, non-greasy, and makes your skin so firm and smooth you will forget that you’re even on Roaccutane.

Now, I am no dermatologist... but I would die on this hill of skin care products. They have brought my skin back to life and have made my Roaccutane journey less miserable. Once I finish using Roaccutane, I will definitely continue to use these products in my everyday skincare routine because I can feel my skin thanking me for taking extra care of it.
